May Oregon Coast Elopement | K. & R.
Elk Flats / Devil’s Cauldron, Short Sands Beach Trailhead, Hug PointHow the Couple Chose the Oregon Coast for Their Elopement
K. and R. started planning their elopement just three months before their date, and look at these pictures—such beautiful memories we were able to create even with limited time! That’s one of the best things about elopements: you can plan a meaningful ceremony at the last minute and still make it unforgettable.
K. and R. are from Kentucky. They have been together for 11 years and have always thought about eloping one day. While searching for the perfect spot, they discovered the stunning landscapes of the Oregon Coast and decided it would be the place when the right moment came. That moment arrived when the bride had a business trip to Portland—the couple took it as a sign that they shouldn’t postpone their dream any longer.
During our first call, they told me they had a few days available between April 25 and May 5. Since the groom’s birthday was on May 4, they wanted to celebrate by eloping that day. When they asked me if it was strange to get married on a birthday, I laughed and said it was perfect—because May 4 is also my birthday! I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend it than working with such a wonderful couple in love.
And that’s how we chose both the place and the date.
Oregon Coast Elopement Timeline and Activities
The couple booked a hotel in Cannon Beach with a breathtaking ocean view. We couldn’t have wished for a more spectacular spot. After getting ready at the hotel, we stepped right outside for their first look.
One of the most touching moments was when the bride surprised the groom with a pin featuring images of their pets, who had to stay back home in Kentucky. The groom wore it with his boutonniere as a sweet reminder that their pets were close to his heart. As a pet lover, I found this such a meaningful gesture.
For the ceremony, we chose Elk Flats. The views were stunning, though the day was windy, so the bride had to remove her veil so it wouldn’t fly away.
My husband, Pasha, officiated the ceremony.
Afterward, we walked into the forest and enjoyed a cozy picnic.
The day ended at the beach. Even though we didn’t make it to the waterfall and caves (because they are only accessible during low tide), we had a romantic photo session with lanterns and a bonfire. The couple roasted marshmallows, closing the day in the sweetest way.
